Sunday Soap Case: Activate your Girl Game!

October 9, 2016 1 Comment

In and Through the Looking Glass

It’s Sunday!* This week has been BUSY! With the Holiday Food and Gift Show at the Tacoma Dome looming over me (figuratively, yes, but also literally as I can see the Dome from my soap shop in Freighthouse Station), I’ve been scrambling to keep up with inventory, online orders and being the best damn mom on the planet** while putting the finishing touches on my new offerings for the event.

I have managed to take a break or two throughout the week and check out some of the new events and shops in Freighthouse, and wow do we have some amazing merchants here! Dan Parker’s crew delivered an excellent Lego event*** this weekend, a few new businesses are starting their build-out, and one delightful little shop quietly opened its unassuming doors.

*It’s not Sunday. I’m writing this on Wednesday, because I’m trying to stay ahead of the curve. I’m mostly failing at that.

**”Best” is a relative term. I’m pretty alright. Sometimes.

***As I’m writing this ahead of time, I don’t really know how excellent the event was. I’m assuming it was awesomely so, though. Because Dan is awesome, and Legos are awesome. Winning combination right there.

looking glass clothing boutique tacoma, waStep Through the Looking Glass

pinup clothing freighthousetrendy boutique tacoma waThe Looking Glass Boutique is, in a word, lovely. With a thoughtful selection of new and pre-loved clothing, the store is Modcloth meets Pinup Girl with a splash of ThredUp. Owner/operator/buyer Jennee Leavitt has had a love of clothing and fashion since she was old enough to dress herself, and her inventory shows that in spades. And I’m not just saying that because her shop looks like an extension of my personal closet. It really does, though. The shop is so perfect that you would find it hard to believe that the business is in its infancy. This is Month Two for Jennee and Looking Glass; she’s a go big or go home kinda gal. Which of course makes me love her. She has a great eye and – perhaps my favorite thing about her – is quick to tactfully let you know when an article of clothing is unflattering to your body shape. Which of course makes me love her even more. And her prices are super reasonable – I picked up two super cute dresses and a top for $50. Which of course makes me love her for life. She has made a wonderful addition to the Freighthouse shops and I look forward to seeing great things from her!

Looking Flawless in The Looking Glass

Playing dress up is fun. Feeling absolutely beautiful in your new dress is fun. Mirror twirling brought to a screeching halt because of a new pimple on your forehead? Not so fun. Face Paste can help! Made with activated charcoal, tea tree oil, and a recipe formulation that yields a highly moisturizing, glycerin-rich soap, Face Paste is great for all skin types but is especially beneficial for those dealing with acne, dry/combination/oily skin, and the sensitive skinned among us. Here’s why:

activated charcoal face care

World. Rocker.

Activated charcoal basically rocks my world. It acts as a magnet, pulling toxins, debris and other nastiness from pores. This leaves skin smooth, clear, and glowing. Tea tree oil also rocks my world. A natural anti-fungal and anti-viral oil, tea tree stabilizes skin’s pH, attacks acne bacteria, sweeps debris from pores, and promotes cell turnover. It does all of this without drying or irritating the skin. World Rocker.

So basically, Face Paste is a disc of awesome. It’s also fun to work with – this product has a built in timer of sorts that is determined by your skin’s needs. Here’s how it goes: Face Paste has a grey and creamy lather starting out, and as you continue to massage into the skin, the activated charcoal is working hard to purge pores and detoxify. Once it has done its job, the lather becomes white and bubbly. This could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on how many toxins your skin is harboring. activated charcoal face bar

And in customary Soap Case fashion, I’m giving away these world rockers this week! Enter coupon code ALLABOUTTHATFACE for a bar of Face Paste on me. Code is valid on all orders through October 16th, 2016. That’s it for me this week – please oh please do two things for me: 1) send me some good luck to get through the next 10 days of insanity, and 2) check out The Looking Glass Boutique and show her social media some love! Thanks!

Happy Sudsing!

Sunday Soap Case: Lego Madness!

City Blocks Brick-or-Treat and Soapy Lego Fun!

Hey there, Sudsers! How’s your weekend treating you? Pagan Pride has been in full swing this weekend at Freighthouse Station and it has been such a treat to mingle with the local holistic community as they explore our building. As the gods and goddesses collect their treasures and head off to their next adventure, Freighthouse begins preparations for our next amazing, stupendous, too-cool-to-be-allowed event.

How’s that for buildup? You won’t be disappointed.

City Blocks Brick or Treat

If you are local to the Tacoma area and haven’t heard of Dan Parker and his Lego artists at City Blocks, it’s likely that you’ve been living under a rock. This place is an institution and a veritable panoply of all things Lego. They have collector’s pieces from Lego’s inception, they have new builder kits (at crazy awesome prices, btw), they have mini-figs coming out of their ears. Sometimes literally. They’re a fun bunch. But what they also have that sets them apart from your run of the mill Lego store is a group of talented builders that create these incredible structures like it’s not the most complicated thing in the world to do. It is. I tried to connect with my inner child and build something with the Soap & Clay kidlet’s Legos and successfully created…nothing. I went back to Minecraft at that point.

Dan Parker travels the world, constructing massive displays for museum events, grand openings, and the occasional children’s birthday party. He’s good at what he does. So good, in fact, that he rarely has an opportunity to coordinate an event specific to his shop in Tacoma (that just so happens to be in Freighthouse Station, where all the cool kids hang out). Lucky for us, he’s organized one for next weekend and it is guaranteed to impress both the young and young at heart.

Brick-or-Treat will run October 7th-9th in Foss Hall at Freighthouse Station. City Blocks has teamed up with Pierce County Asylum (not an actual asylum, but probably more terrifying) for a weekend of physics-defying Lego builds, games, toys, Lego dealers, and even master instructors (namely, the one and only Dan Parker) on site to provide a few tips and tricks of the trade. So if you’re looking for something amazing to do next weekend, this is it.

Lego My Soap, You

legoNot to be outdone by Dan and his awesomeness (except that I am completely outdone by Dan and his awesomeness), I’ve got a super awesome Lego creation, too. Of the soap variety. Obvs. Lego My Soap, Yo has been a fun addition to the Soap & Clay Kids line and really showcases my Lego skills. Of which I have none, really. But the soap is great – tons of bubbles, super bright scents and colors, and moisturizing super cleansers go into these children’s glycerin soaps. The Soap & Clay Kidlets have a stack of these in the shower and at the sink and have declared them to be their absolute favorites. Today. They would like to see the soaps come with some mini-figs, however – perhaps Dan the Man and I can work out a deal to make that so. And because I love you so very much, you can get a set (a whole set!!!) for free this week with coupon code LEGOMYSOAPYO. Coupon code valid on all orders until October 9th.

That’s it for me today, Sudsers – have a great week!

Happy Sudsing!

September 25, 2016 Leave a Comment

Greetings and salutations, Sudsers! Hope your weekend was extra-special-awesome, because I have an extra-special-awesome blog post to get you ready for the week ahead.

I’d like to think that my writing skills have the ability to do that. If you disagree, click here.

Anyway, we’re kicking off the Soap Case with a final look at Karter Designs before she leaves the Maker of the Month table. It has been awesome getting to talk to customers about Katy and her business this month. She has a great product line and a refreshing approach to business development, so it’s going to be tough to see her go. After Katy, we’ll finish up with some totes adorb bath bombs that I’ve added to the line. Ready?

Karter Designs

Katy Haymore, owner/creator/designer/financier/CEO of Karter Designs (she wears a lot of hats), is a PNW mom of two young boy-children. So she’s busy. And probably spends more time cleaning than she’d like. She shared a story with me recently about her boys that made me giggle, so I’m going to share it with you. Because giggling is fun. If you disagree, click this link.

BOYS WILL BE BOYS

“Have you ever just looked at your kid and wondered, “How? Just how in the hell did you get into a mess like that?” Well I say that to myself pretty much every day. I am a #boymom through and through, with two littles who always keep me on my toes! My big kid is 2 ½ and let me tell you, the “terrible two’s” are no joke! Although I’ve heard it gets nothing but worse from where were at (#fml). And my 8 month old? He is so wild he literally makes monkeys in the zoo look like relatives. All day long he’s up, he’s crawling into different rooms, he’s climbing, and he’s into something every time I turn around. How do they have all that energy!??

karter designs

So yesterday my big kid asks for a snack and he chooses the little Nutella ready-to-go packs (whoever invented this is AMAZING, btw). Being an awesome mom that cares about balancing nutrition, I ask him to sit on the couch with his snack while I grab him a sippy cup of milk. When I return, he’s not there. Recap: I was gone maybe 10 seconds; just long enough to fill a sippy. I walk into his room, not there. I look in the bathroom, not there. I walk into my bedroom, and THERE. HE IS. Hands covered in Nutella. Face covered in Nutella. How is there this much Nutella in that little to-go pack??? And the piece de resistance? My pillow and comforter (my pillow, btw. Not dad’s), covered in Nutella. W.T.F.”

With rambunctious boys like that, I don’t know how she manages to crank out new designs at a record pace! But she does; she’s a machine. It has been such an honor to work with her this month and I look forward to more business adventures together in the very near future. And while she is leaving our maker table for now (sad face), her pieces are always available at her shop! Check it out!

If you decide to pick up a little something from Karter Designs, send me a screenshot of the confirmation and I will send YOU a coupon code for an additional 20% off of Soap & Clay’s site. Because double deals are cool. If you disagree, click here.

Poke-bombs FTW!

pokebombs bath bomb pokemon collectible insideSo I’m a little late to the party with this post. I actually started making these poke-bombs several months ago and have been selling them at booth events and at the shop in Freighthouse Station. I haven’t put them on the website, though, because I have had a hard time keeping them in stock.  I know, I know – I suck. If you disagree, click the link.

poke-bombs

There are hundreds of Pokemon; no two bombs are the same!

Anyway, Poke-bombs are pretty self explanatory. They’re bath bombs themed around six different Poke Balls from the Pokemon world. They are the same size as the old version of my Mondo Bath Bombs – smaller than the new and improved giant bath bombs but bigger than the kid’s bombs. Lots of fizzy bath time fun.

But wait, there’s more! Tucked inside each Poke-bomb is a collectible Pokemon character! Cool, yeah? I think I’ve finally finished the back orders for these bath bombs, but I still don’t have them on the site. Because I suck. See above. BUT…I have no problem giving them away as a thank you for putting up with my suckiness!

Enter POKEBOMBSFTW in the notes of your next order and I will send you a Poke-bomb on the house! Remember, put it in the order notes; this is not a coupon code. My super helpful web designer informed me that I can’t create a coupon code for something that doesn’t exist, so if I want to use codes I have to stop sucking and catch up with my site maintenance. Noted. I’ll work on it. Maybe.

Happy Sudsing!

Sunday Soap Case: Maker of the Month

Makers Gonna Make

whipped sugar soap minisIt’s Sunday, and time for another edition of Sunday Soap Case. This week is a bit different, though. Let’s call it special. A super special spotlight. Involving Soap & Clay (obvs), news from Freighthouse Station (obvs), and a brand new program we’ve rolled out this month: Maker of the Month!

What is a maker?

Chances are, you’re a maker. If you’ve ever made a cake for a kidlet’s birthday instead of ordering from the grocery store, you’re a maker. Spent countless hours designing, measuring, and sewing a Halloween costume instead of heading down to the costume shop? Maker. Painted a sign, reupholstered a chair, refinished a dresser: maker. The maker spirit is alive in most all of us; the excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes from making something out of nothing is a better high than any drug in existence.

The Maker Movement

Some of us crazy people take it a step farther. We don’t want to make a sign; we want to make all the signs. We aren’t content with a batch of basic soap that will keep our family clean for a year; we want to try every soap technique and experiment with every possible oil combination. We aren’t satisfied with the perfectly designed quilt on our guest bed; we want to work with every damn piece of fabric that has ever been wrapped around a bolt. For some of us, making is not a hobby, it’s a full-on obsession.

So we start businesses. We’ve worked our booties off designing and formulating, building an inventory and setting up our shops because we believe that we have something special, unique, and useful that will provide value to others. We promote our business, harass our friends and family to do the same, stay active on our social media pages, spend countless hours continuing to develop our craft and research new and better ways to create our masterpieces. We eat, breathe, and dream our craft. We work hard.

The one thing I don’t see enough of in the maker world, however, is promoting, championing, and helping other makers. We’re so hyper focused on achieving our goals that we race right past another maker trying to achieve theirs. And as the absolute hardest thing to do when building a start-up is reach a larger audience, it’s just silly that we don’t focus more on cross promoting. So when I opened Soap & Clay’s storefront, I never saw it as just a place to showcase all my brightly colored wares. I wanted to be able to provide a space for the talented makers I’ve met along the way (of which I’ve met hundreds; I collect talented people much like other women collect shoes) to display their items, perhaps reaching a larger audience in the process.

I’ve set aside a space in my shop for this purpose. Each month, a new, talented, and all-around awesome maker will be showcased. My criteria for Maker of the Month are as follows:

-a kickass personality
-a unique and fresh perspective within their craft
-superior products, stellar customer service, and reasonable prices
-a focus on growing their business, a passion for their craft, and boatloads of positivity
So really, the makers showcased aren’t just any makers – they are extraordinary human beings with extraordinary talents!

Kicking off the Maker of the Month is Katy Haymore of Karter Designs. Katy is a hard working, fast moving, mover and maker mom of two boy-children. Her down to earth personality, love of her family, and smart ass sense of humor really comes through in her products. Which are great, by the way. Karter Designs specializes in painted wood signs and drinkware and has something for every occasion. Need something custom? She’s got you covered. How about something to commemorate your child’s birth story? She’s got that covered, too.

Karter Designs can be found on Instagram and Facebook, as well as at her website. Go give her a like!
Seriously on the like thing, though. Normally I showcase a product in my line each Sunday and offer a coupon code for my faithful readers that manage to make it through to the end. I’m still doing a coupon code this week, but it’s not going to be for a specific item from my shop.
Coupon code LOVEMESOMEKD gets you $10 off your order this week, but here’s what you need to do to use the code.
Go to one (or all!) of Karter Designs’ pages. Like or follow (or both!). If you’re in the market for/fall in love with something, buy it! Interact with Karter Designs in some way and then come back here to get $10 off of your order. If you found your way to Soap Case today through Karter Designs, do the same for me. I appreciate likes too!
How will I know if you’ve done this? I won’t. This is the honor system, people – we’re all awesome grown-ups that care about our fellow human and find joy in helping others succeed. I trust you and stuff. That’s it from me this week – catch you on the…soapy side…?

Sunday Soap Case: Sweet Eats and Sweet Treats

August 23, 2016 1 Comment

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice…

Well, Sunday came and went. I cleaned my house, designed 8 new bars (squeeeeeee!) for the fall and winter lines, folded my laundry, hung out with my kids, worked on the shop, and arranged the Soap & Clay schedule for the week. But I missed one thing. Sunday Soap Case! In my defense, I didn’t really miss it; my computer decided to go on strike last week so I’ve been limping along on my phone. So you’re getting Sunday Soap Case on Monday. Night. If I remember to publish it.

This week’s Soap Case features two very talented bakers and includes a sweet offer from Mrs. Soap & Clay. Read on, follow pages, help small business owners, and take advantage of Mrs. Soap & Clay’s love of freebies. Ready? Let’s get to it!

LA Waffletz

The food service at Freighthouse Station is nothing short of amazing. I have been spending more time at Freighthouse than at home of late, so I’ve had an opportunity to sample it all. One of my personal favorites has to be the delicious bakes they serve up at La Waffletz. While their menu includes an admirable selection of waffles topped with all manner of yummy goodness, the best part of their offerings is by far their macarons. Having spent the entirety of 2012 obsessed with macarons (the making of them, the finding of them, the eating of them), I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur. And the macarons at La Waffletz do not disappoint! Their delicate outer shell has a slight crunch, the middle is the perfect level of chewy, and the fillings are creamy and sweet – these macarons are perfectly balanced and simply delightful. The Soap & Clay kidlets and I stop by every week for a little almond cookie indulgence, and I suggest you do the same. Order one. Dozen. And then another few. Dozen. To take home. For your Netflix night. Because they’re that good.

Chocolate Covered Raindrops

I first met Lindsey, the owner of Chocolate Covered Raindrops, at a Momtrepreneur event earlier this year. I believe it was her first show, and she definitely brought her A-game. Her display was totes adorb and her bakes were beautiful. From the billowy frosting and moist sponge to the thoughtful flavor combinations, Lindsey makes a damn good cupcake. So good, in fact, that I asked her to make me some for Soap & Clay’s soft open last week. I have no picture of those (because they were devoured immediately and I failed to plan for that), so instead I stole some pictures from Chocolate Covered Raindrops’ Facebook page for you to admire.

how to make cupcakes

I have no idea what this is. But I want it.

chocolate covered raindrops

THIS. Just, THIS.

As if her bakes didn’t win me over, Lindsey is a fellow lover of DEALS. Her September specials are as follows:

  • 8 scones (a full 10 inch round) for $25
  • Cupcake Flavors of the Month: pumpkin with cinnamon cream cheese frosting and apple pie, one dozen standard $35.

Now that’s a lot of deliciousness for a teeny tiny price. Follow the link, like her page, and keep her in mind for your next birthday, anniversary, bachelorette party, or for your next Tuesday at home.

Bath Bomb Cupcakes – Fancy Bath Plus

cupcake bath bomb tutorialI’m sure you can tell by now that I am in love with all baked goods. It’s one of my very favorite addictions. I am not so much with the baking of said baked goods, though (thankfully businesses like La Waffletz and Chocolate Covered Raindrops exist), so I have to stick to what I know, and I know soap. My bath bomb cupcakes came to life one evening after seeing the look of disappointment on the Soap & Clay kidlets’ faces when I presented them with yet another batch of dry cupcakes and weepy frosting.

Now I see the looks of disappointment, but mostly because I made them – yet again – something they can’t eat.

The bath bomb cupcakes have gone through a number of iterations over the past few months. While the bottom bit has always been a bath bomb, the tops have changed. They started out with an actual royal frosting. Which was pretty, but not exactly useful in the tub. I then moved to a whipped soap frosting made from the same cream base I use for my whipped sugar soaps. These have done very well, but I am currently playing with a bubble bath frosting for the holiday line.

cupcake bath bombs

Personally, I love bubble bath, so I’m thinking I may be on to something, here. Send me a message and let me know if you agree. Or disagree, really. But either way, use this week’s Soap Case coupon code and you can get a cupcake (of the bath bomb variety) on me!

Use coupon code NOBAKECUPCAKES for a free bath bomb cupcake. Offer expires 8/29/2016. Which is a Monday. Since I’m lame and didn’t get the Soap Case out on time.

Sunday Soap Case: Tea for Two, and Two for Tea…

August 14, 2016 Leave a Comment

Tea Rooms, Tea Sets, and Tea Soaps

It’s FOOTBALL SUNDAY, Sudsers! I hope everyone has had an opportunity to check out some preseason games today, if you’re into that sort of thing. If you’re not into football…I don’t know what to do with you, really. The Soap & Clay family has been busy putting the finishing touches on our brand spankin’ new storefront this week. And by busy, I mean it has consumed every available second of our lives. And by finishing touches, I mean we started this week with roughly 10% of our task items completed. So yeah – it’s been a bit insane.

Earlier this week when I was covered in paint and construction dust, I hit a wall. I was tired. I didn’t want to paint anymore, I didn’t want to build anything, I didn’t want to go home to see my soap shop in disarray as we’ve been prepping for the move. I wanted to sit in my reclining wingback with a book and a cup of tea and shut out the world. As I walked through Freighthouse Station, dreaming of a cuppa and some quality time with the new Harry Potter book, I bumped into Becky from Claudia’s Attic. Becky and her sisters run an adorable vintage store at Freighthouse Station, and getting to see the new treasures they put on display really is the highlight of my mornings.

Host your own tea party with Claudia’s Attic Tea Sets…

Claudia's Attic Freighthouse Square Freightouse Station TacomaWhen I ran into Becky, I was not looking for dresses (focused on tea, remember?), so you can imagine my delight when she told me that their tea sets were on special. I wandered into her shop to ooh and ahh over the beautiful china sets with their swan-like spouts and their gold rimmed saucers. She had wonderful information about the complete sets available – this one is super old and in mint condition!

Becky asked me if I had been down to check out the tea room in Freighthouse Station. Now, this building is BIG and full of hidden treasures around every corner, and I had not found anything resembling a tea room during my explorations. I asked for directions and set out.

…or let Olive Branch host it for you.

Olive Branch Cafe Tea Room in TacomaOn the far west end of Freighthouse Station, I found it. An honest to god tea room in Tacoma. With full tea service, private rooms, a light lunch menu and beautiful Victorian Era decor, this is just the perfect place to sit and enjoy an afternoon with friends after shopping.

olive branch tea room tacoma freighthouse square

Full service luncheon in a number of private or semi-private rooms to choose from. Did I mention their prices are great?

And the staff? Delightful. I was greeted by a lovely lady who immediately commented on my t-shirt (Chicago Bears) and we began talking about all things football. She was married to a member of Emmitt Smith’s family back when the Cowboys were a force to be reckoned with, so I enjoyed listening to her Super Bowl stories while we waited for the owner, Terry, to finish up with a group of guests.

tea shop olive branch freighthouse square station tacoma

Kids tea room is equipped with stuffed animals, hats and gloves, and a side table for the grownups.

Terry is just the exact type of person you’d expect to see running a tea room – she’s warm, welcoming, and filled with love and humble pride for this masterpiece she’s created. As we wandered through The Olive Branch (which is huge), I saw a group of teenagers in prom attire, several couples tucked away in small rooms enjoying an afternoon date, a few birthday parties, and a group of kidlets hosting a tea party for their favorite dolls in their own miniature room. Terry thought of everything, and she is equipped to handle visitors from all stages in life.

This afternoon of exploration lifted my spirits, but didn’t get me any closer to my dream of a book and a cup of tea at home. The only thing that was going to get me there? Work. So back I went to finish up the dirty stuff and headed home to make a batch of one of my personal favorites: lemon and black tea whipped sugar soap scrubs.

Tea in the Tub

sugar scrub soap scrub black teaThis one was where the dual purpose soap-scrub began. When I was designing my product line, I wanted to make a soap using black tea because I love tea so very much. I also like a spot of sugar in my tea, so I started working on ways to incorporate both into a standard soap batch. Sugar doesn’t do well through the saponification process, though, so I knew I would have to add it to already cured soap. So I formulated a cream soap, which starts out much like standard soap but is saponified over heat and requires a six week cure in a crock pot. This is kind of a pain, but it produces a soap that is perfect for whipping into a light, airy, whipped cream like product that can hold the large amounts of sugar I use for my scrubs. I’m a big fan of dual purpose products, so a soap that scrubs and cleans is a winner in my book.

Once it’s cured, I toss it in my stand mixer and whip it for around 20 minutes before adding the goodies. The goodies include a black tea extract infusion, lemon, glycerin for added moisture, sweet almond oil for the EFA benefits, and sugar (obvs). The final product is a beautiful scrub that also cleanses and rinses cleanly away with no greasy residue.  It is an exfoliating dream – super effective but gentle enough to use on sensitive areas.whipped soap sugar scrub lemon soap black tea scrub

For those that have read through to the end, here it is – your weekly freebie coupon code. For those who didn’t read anything above, NO CODE FOR YOU! Just kidding; I can’t make my site distinguish between the two.

Enter coupon code TEAINTHETUB for a free mini-whip! Coupon valid through next Sunday, August 21st.

But really – if you’re in Tacoma, stop by Freighthouse Station. Come and say hi. And make sure to stop in and see the lovely ladies at Claudia’s Attic and Olive Branch. You won’t regret it! If you’re not in Tacoma, go like their Facebook pages anyway – it helps with their analytics. Until next week, Sudsers!

Red Hook’s Moonlight Cinema, Adilene’s Army, and BOWIE!

Hey there Sudsers, how’s your week going? The Soap & Clay family has been busy with mostly work and very little play in preparation for a show at Red Hook Brewery’s Moonlight Cinema, where we will be slinging soap while jamming out to some great Bowie tunes and watching Labyrinth in the open air. Food trucks, Oddmall’s always impressive merchant circle, beer, and a Bowie Tribute – what’s not to love? I have a new line of beer soaps made from Red Hook’s brews that I can’t wait to release. moonlight cinema at redhook

We also spent a lot of time at Freighthouse Station in Tacoma, working on the build-out for Soap & Clay’s very first retail location! As a result, we all ended up covered in all manner of construction grime, which the Soap & Clay kids loved. Me? Not so much. I make soap for a living; it is to be assumed that I don’t like being dirty. So at the end of each day, I definitely needed a bath. And a shower. And a rub with a scrub in between. I didn’t really have time for all of that, though, so I needed a soap that would work hard to purge my pores of all impurities while locking in moisture. That soap? C’mon Get Happy! Look for more information (and a coupon code) for this hard working soap in Sunday’s Soap Case!

Their ability to remain positive and upbeat while living every parent’s worst nightmare is inspiring. And that cute little dude in the duck towel? Is her bright and energetic big brother Blaiden, who loves his little sister fiercely.

When I learned of Adilene’s diagnosis, I felt like I wanted to help this family in some way. I know I’m not alone in that feeling; most people experience this when confronted with a problem that they can’t fix. Jessica’s family felt the same way, so her cousins Kella and Chera organized a 5k Fundraiser to assist with medical expenses. This event will be held on August 13th in Sanford, Colorado. While I can’t be there for the event (kind of a trek from the PNW), I can help by donating a portion of my sales. So that’s what I’m doing. From now through August 1, 2016, 25% of all Soap & Clay sales will be donated to Adilene’s Army 5K Run/Walk.

Shop. Help. Be Awesome.
